Choosing a Blog Topic
Deciding to become a blogger is easy for many people. It is easy for many people to decide that they want to make money from their blog, but actually doing it isn't as easy as it sounds. With billions of blogs and pages out there making money with your blog actually starts in choosing a blog topic. It isn't enough to have a desire to make it happen. It has to work well for you, your readers, and your goals. Brainstorm.
It works best if you start the process by brainstorming. You will need to write down all of your topic ideas. Include everything that comes to mind and then go from there. Evaluate your options.
Now that you have carefully written down everything you could blog about it is time to figure out what will work best for you. You should start with a topic that is one that has a large variety of options for you to write on. It should have at least ten sub-categories. I say this because you will need to work hard to produce a large amount of quality posts and this works best if there is a lot of variety in what you can write on. It still needs to be interesting to those who are coming to read about your topic, but this will make it easier for you to write in your blog regularly. You will also want to know a lot about the topic. Sure it may sound like a good idea, but if you can't write about it with little or no research then it could become more time consuming and will get harder and harder to post in it. For a good blog you will want to post three or more times a week which can be hard if you are unsure of what to write, how to write it, or needing to do a lot of research in order to put something down on paper. Answering the questions.
Once you have gotten a good idea of what you want to write on you need to figure out who you are writing for. This is important to help you choose what to write and when to write it. After you have an audience you have to figure out how you are going to monetize your blog (as long as making money is important to you). If you are writing a money making blog, how are you going to make money from it? After all, if you are hoping to get rich with Google Adsense then making money tends to be a horrible topic (after all, who clicks on all the ads that sound like scams?) If you are writing a blog that has all of your poetry in it are you really wanting to clutter it up with sponsored posts? These are all important questions in figuring out what you are hoping for from your blog. It isn't enough just to get out there and start writing, it has to go beyond that. In order to really make money from your blog it will take hard work, but the starting point comes from choosing a topic. I know from experience what it is like to choose a topic that doesn't work well for you. There are lots of options, make sure the topic you settle for is (above all)one you love enough to do well with. It can't just be one you think will make money because six months from now it will get harder to post in your blog. You can make money blogging, but it will take work. Choose a good topic and that work will be a lot easier for you. |
